2016 Holiday Gift Guide

As I sit here waiting for the season finale of Westworld to come on, I started to think about all of my favorite travel accessories. After so many trips and tips, below is a curated list of things that any traveler or aspiring traveler could appreciate.

1. Monogrammed passport holder from Leatherology – $50-$55

I have one in teal, and it helps to protect my passport against wear and tear. If I ever take a group tour that requires someone collecting passports, it is also a really easy way to tell mine from the rest very quickly. The matching luggage tag is a good buy as well.

2. The New York Times: 36 Hours from Amazon – $28.11

My favorite coffee table book. I always consult this list before I head to Europe.

3. Outdoor Tech Kodiak Mini Power Pack from REI – $24.95

111377 Waterproof. Shockproof.

4. Travel Towel from REI – $22.50

Less necessary when staying in a hotel, but still a good thing to have if you take a day trip and need a towel on the go!

5. Notebook from Kate Spade – $22

I like to take notes when I travel, and since this is so pretty it means I can have it in my bookcase one day.

6. Run Your Stuff Sports Bra from Lululemon – $58

The perfect sports bra for hiding things like money and keys… especially useful if you are a bit paranoid like me sometimes.

7.  Signature Delicate Engravable Necklace from Stella and Dot – $69

I also recommend the matching bracelet. Both of the items I have are engraved with geographic coordinates from my two favorite places in the world. It’s such a nice personal touch and great for storytelling.

8. Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Wireless Headphones – $349.95

I won these in a company raffle on the luckiest day of my life and they turn airplanes into a little oasis in the sky. If you can splurge on these, I do believe they are worth it.

9. Purity Face Wipes at Sephora – $15

My favorite face wash was reincarnated into these easy wipes. I love that they can go in my carry on without being a liquid. Makes taking off make-up in the hostel easy since you don’t need light or water, therefore not waking up the roommates.

10. Eagle Creek Packing Cubes from REI – $39.95

Finally invested in these bad boys… I cannot believe how much more I can fit in my 65L backpack!

11. Patagonia Rain Jacket – $129

Patagonia is one of the most socially responsible companies, so it’s not hard to justify a great purchase like this rain jacket. I wear mine all the time and it is so light and easy to pack. Good extra layer.

12. Ollochip Clip On Lens from REI – $79.95

The lady at REI talked me into this… my goal is to make it work with Northern Lights in Iceland. If not, at least I’ll have some amazing Instas.

13. 1000 Places to See Before You Die from Amazon – $14.99

My old roommate had this book, and it’s 100% the reason why I decided to go to the Intercontinental in Hong Kong and get an amazing view of the skyline. A great coffee table book for inspiration!

14. SD Card Reader from Apple – $29

If you have an amazing camera and can’t wait to connect to a computer so that you can upload it to Instagram, this solves all of your problems. Happy it now works with iPhones as well as iPads!
