4 Days in Ibiza

Days OOO: Estimated 2-3 days

Budget Style: When you try to stick to a backpacker budget but get price gouged left and right… Drinks are between 10 and 20 euro in the clubs, and food is crazy too.

This isn’t the type of trip where you cram in a ton of sightseeing. When partying is the name of the game be sure to add in hangover and slothy beach time!

What I Did:

When you go to Ibiza makes all the difference. I recommend going around Labor Day Weekend because that’s typically when closing parties happen. The DJs and parties are way bigger!

Ushuaia— The highlight of my trip. My regular ticket was around 55 Euro for one day. I saw Nervo, Kygo, Avicii, and David Guetta over 2 nights. I think due to outdoor noise they are required to shutdown by midnight… which is early for Spanish standards. That’s when the party moves elsewhere! My first night I had a great view behind the pool and could lean on a railing, but night two my friends and I went into the crowd near the front and enjoyed how crazy the party was in the rain. Drinking in the crowd is really hard… so make sure to pregame beforehand.

Amnesia— The late night, post Ushuaia spot. I can’t remember how much money I paid to get in but my wallet was considerably lighter after cover and a few drinks. I saw Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike, then Nicky Romero. There is no better way to describe this place other than complete insanity. Don’t expect to get home before 5am. This place is also in the middle of nowhere on the island and definitely requires a cab. Share one with friends! I saw a bus but that seems awk haha.

In terms of other clubs, I hear good things about Privilege. Space is now closed but my friends hated it. The boat parties are also great and my friends went to Formentera which is one of the most beautiful beach spots in the world… but this day trip cut into seeing Kygo and Avicii so I skipped out.

Beaches— I went to the beach next to my Airbnb mostly, which is Playa den Bossa. The sand is pretty hot so I recommend renting a chair with an umbrella near a restaurant. Since I wasn’t eating any real food for the weekend I didn’t mind spending money on expensive beachy cocktails. On day 4, my friends and I also rented a car one day and drove west to spend the day at Cala Bassa… which was beautiful and very crowded.

Where I Ate:

Steak n Shake— My jam. Right next to our Airbnb and the cheapest, best post party option. I downed way too many cheeseburgers and fries. I regret nothing.

We also got snacks from the grocery store… but yea if you don’t want to spend money fast food is where it’s at.
Where I Stayed:

We had a beach facing apartment for 5 people within walking distance to the major clubs, city walk, and city beaches. Major props to my friend who chose based on walking distance to Ushuaia. It’s worth the splurge! It was definitely more of a hotelish Airbnb than a homey Airbnb… they don’t really include amenities and probably churn tourists throughout the season.
How I Got There:

Ryanair has daily flights for less than 20 Euro. BEWARE… I hadn’t yet grasped the concept of European sized carry-on and was forced to check my bag at check-in. It cost me a whopping 75 Euro to check it on the spot, and another 50 to check on the way back. Absolute bullshit. So pack lightly, use the correct size for carry-on luggage, and brace yourself for a horrible customer service experience.

My friends and I shared cabs the entire weekend, so I’m unfortunately not sure how the public transportation works. We rented a car for our beach day which was around 100 Euro… don’t rent if you can’t drive manual.
